This gorgeous book, created by Andrea Heckman & Tad Fettig, is such an important document in the Bon lineage.  From meeting with Geshe Sonam, exploring his story, to traveling with H.E. Yongdzin Lopon Tenzin Namdak Rinpoche through vast mountain trails to villages and cities, this book catalogs contemporary times within Bon culture.  There are many glimpes of magical moments from awe inspiring places and people.

“From a chance meeting in Taos, New Mexico, we began our journeys to make three films about Tibet’s ancient Bon traditions. We filmed in Northern India, Kathmandu, Mustang and Dolpo in Nepal, France, Poland, Mexico, and the USA.  Bon, the ancient spiritual tradition dating back to pre-Buddhism in Tibet,is linked to the vast Zhang Zhung kingdom of western Tibet. Bon has persisted through centuries as an unbroken lineage and continues as one of the world’s oldest spiritual traditions.  Today at Menri Monastery(Northern India) and Triten Norbutse Monastery(Kathmandu, Nepal) young monks and nuns are educated in Bon practices and remain there or return home to help their communities or others travel throughout the world learning foreign languages and developing sanghas of devoted students.  It is with great pleasure we share these journeys, visually and through our stories, coupled with intimate stories of the geshes, masters, monks, nuns, and Western students.”
